The reason why I have posted a list of films about thrillers and the different types of thrillers is because I wanted to show the vast range of thrillers, but the main reason would be that I would be filming a thriller in the near future, so I need all of the information that I need.
The reason why I am making a thriller is becuase thrillers are a lot easier to make instead of a comedy and a sciifi film. This is becuase writing a comedy is very difficult becuase making people laugh is very difficult and making a sci-fi would cost a lot to make i.e. the costumes and special effects would need to be good. Take the Godfather for example most of the scenes are based around a table in a smock filled room with people wearing suits and the atmosphere it creates is enormous and it is cheap to make.

The meaning of the word ‘genre’ is, simply put, what type of film it is, basically for example you can get a science fiction genre which involves mainly the theme of space like Star Wars. But the Thriller genre is made up of excitement, tension and suspense. Basically a Thriller plays with your mind to make you think that the end will be gruesome, horrid and evil. But in reality in the end everything ends on a high note until the camera zooms in, on a specific point and leads you into a cliff hanger.
Types of Thrillers
Sub-genres are categories with-in genres which are very specific points which the film is based on for example with-in a Thriller there is (naming just a few):
Crime thriller
This has a mixture of crime films and thrillers that offers a suspenseful account of a successful or failed crime or crimes. These films often focus on the criminals rather than a policeman. Crime thrillers usually focus on the psychological aspects of the film. For example ‘On country of old men’ and Silence of the lambs’
Disaster thriller
Which the main conflict is due to some sort of natural or artificial disaster, such as floods, earthquakes, hurricanes, volcanoes, etc. For example a good film would be ‘The day after tomorrow’ or ‘2012.’
Psychological thriller
This is a conflict between the main character’s mental and emotional side rather than on the physical aspects of the film. For example ‘Panic room’ and ‘Psycho’
Supernatural thriller
This film brings in an otherworldly element mixed with tension, suspense and plot twists. Sometimes the hero and/or the villain have some psychic ability which is linked with the devil or some other supernatural being. For example ‘Signs’ and ‘The Others’
Techno thriller
This is a suspense film in which the manipulation of technology plays a prominent part in the film. For example ‘I. Robot’ and ‘The matrix’
Religious thriller
The plot is closely connected to religious objects and questions. For example ‘The DA Vinci code’ and ‘Angles and Demons’
Mystery thriller
The suspense films are when the characters attempt to solve, or be involved in, a mystery. For example ‘Shutter Island’ and ‘The Number 23’

The Preliminary Task
This is the film that Sam Clark, Lee Fraser, Adam Holland and Myself filmed.
The film is about a student who has damaged a teacher's yellow car and is summoned to the teachers office.
I feel that our film was very well put together and well made because we planned everything in advance i.e. what the film was going to be about, how we would shoot it etc. Our film didn't have many faults becuase we all worked together extremly well and we watched each scene back to check that there was no continuity errors. I learned a lot about film making becuase if you accidently moved the camera, aftering filming in one location, it is a nightmare putting the camera back in the same position again. If I could re-make this film we would probally use more cameras for when we do shot reverse shots and match on action, because it would make for a smoother and better film.
